Seven OPUS crews ran Northern California's Smith River National Recreation Area together, a mixed OP2 and OP4 convoy working up the coast through the redwoods.
The route strung together the Steelhead Adventure Trail and a string of camps: Mill Creek, Hurdy Gurdy Creek, Big Flat and North Fork, with a push on toward the McCloud Falls area and Southeast Oregon.
Fishing, hiking and camp cooking filled the days, with dispersed sites and reliable rigs carrying the group through some of the prettiest river country in the state.
