Ryan Hathaway joined a group of friends near Jacksonville, Florida to do some beach camping in February. He towed his OP4 with a Tacoma and met up with three overlanding clubs Peters Point.
“While setting up the Opus a crowd gathered to check it out. There were 20-15 people hanging out watching and asking questions. I ended up losing my voice. The common theme being: ‘Hey we have seen these on 4WD Action @australian4wdaction but never in person.’
The group camped at Fernandina Beach which is part of Amelia Island (a barrier island off the coast of Jacksonville that’s just 13 miles long). While Ryan just had the gears done on his truck he was actually having technical difficulties with the 4WD… so he partially aired down the tow vehicle and trailer and it still rode like a dream onto the beach.
Overall there were more than 20 rigs with everything from RTTs and tents to DIY trailer builds. Ryan can’t wait to get out again – This fall he plans to take it to Pikes Peak in CO, a trip we can’t wait to hear about!
